Strategies for Writing & Getting Published: Conversations with Authors

Are you working on a manuscript and wondering what to do next? How do you make the leap from 'writer' to 'published author'? Do you dream of writing books and reaching people with your words? Have you ever asked yourself these questions about being a writer, but don’t know the next steps to take on your path to becoming a published author?

Join us on the evening of Monday, March 27th, at the Nefesh B´Nefesh Hub, in Tel Aviv, for another WRITE-HAUS panel discussion. We are honored to present a diverse selection of speakers, including three writers with extensive experience publishing their work. They will share their stories, introduce their body of work, and provide practical advice and tips for aspiring writers who want to transform

their passions into their careers.

Guest speakers

Michael Oren is a historian, New York Times best-selling author, and former Israeli ambassador to the US. Originally from New York, Oren holds four degrees in Middle East history from Princeton and Columbia, and has received four honorary doctorates. He is the author of both fiction and nonfiction books, and the recipient of the The Los Angeles Times History Jewish Book Award, the National Jewish Book Award, and a National Humanities Prize. Oren is the father of three and the grandfather of six—his proudest achievements.

Miryam Sivan is a former New Yorker who has lived in Israel for almost thirty years. She teaches literature and writing at the University of Haifa and has published scholarly articles on American and Israeli writers and a book-length study on Cynthia Ozick's fiction. Much of her fiction is about the experiences of ex-pats in love, in flux, in the liminal space between cultures, languages, and historical epochs. Her short fiction has appeared in various journals in the US and UK and two of her stories were adapted for the stage in London and New York.

Ephraim (Ephy) Rinsky is an author and screenwriter. His first two novels Palindrome and The Binding were published by HarperCollins. He’s currently wrapping up a novel about artificial intelligence, and writing (and co-starring) in an independent film due out in late 2023. As a day job, Rinsky works as a Product Marketing Manager at Riskified, in Tel Aviv. He has worked as a statistics professor, bagel maker and street performer. He is a semi-serious pianist, and a not at all serious podcaster.
